Veranda

The Sun-Room (Veranda) looked really dated with its cottage look so we decided to transform it into a living room, the fact that its beside the kitchen makes it a nice place to hang out after dinner. Here’s what it looked like before:

We had to replace the windows since they were not insulated:

We painted the ceiling and the walls that we wanted to keep, a lot of primer (Shellac) was needed to cover the pine knots, we used Zinsser, it worked really well.

Wall Demo Time !!!

Installed a sub-floor  to put new ceramic tiles and heated flooring (800 tap-con screws went into the concrete.. ) :

Framing of new wall, installation of pocket door frame and electrical :

Installed heated floor wire, ready for ceramic tiles :

Grout is done, installed the ceiling fans, installed the pocket doors and closed the walls on the veranda side, started to build the alcove for the fireplace and TV, a bit of painting too !

Built 2 built-in benches with storage on each side of the Alcove:

Drywall Time, also made a box in the alcove for the TV.

Installed the stones on the wall (Reno-Stone in Gatineau (Aylmer)) really good service and an excellent product ! turned out better than expected, also painted the alcove and the kitchen-facing walls.

We asked a good friend to make some boxes to go on each side of the alcove, here are some pictures of the build, they look amazing! (Un immense merci à Luc Goulet!)
