We wanted to convert the workshop into a fully functional part of the house, it was fully insulated, but was more of an extra garage than an actual room in the house. The plan was to close the opening between the garage and the workshop, and open up into the hallway, this required a lot of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc… and the roof… we had this crazy idea of changing the roof from a flat ceiling to a cathedral ceiling … fun fun fun.
Before:
Removal of Drywall, preparing for re-enforcement of trusses for cathedral ceiling:
Modification of the trusses from flat-ceiling to cathedral … A LOT of work !
Installation of Ceiling :
We had to pause the reno’s in the GameRoom because we were building a Garage. Now that the garage project is complete, we continued … we finished the electrical and insulation, and opened the hallway from the GameRoom to the house. We then closed up the wall between the GameRoom and the Garage, started framing around the fireplace, a closet and finished most of the drywall.
Mudding, taping and sanding is done … time to prime and paint.
We painted the walls and installed the ceiling boards, installed some light fixtures and built some boxes on the side of the fireplace to hold some firewood, the room is starting to take shape !
Installation of 2×2 Dri-Core sub-floor with 3/8 sheeting on top, we then installed “luxury Wood-look Vinyl” planks on top of it, the final result is very nice !
Cabinets have arrived, they were installed by the company that built them, everything looks really nice! we started installing some stone on the fireplace and above the built-in bench, things are starting to take shape.
Finally finished ! we built the fake beams on the ceiling, finished the stone on the fireplace surround, as well as some decoration pieces. This project was a lot more work than we thought it would be ! but was a lot of fun !
